Smith, Stanley Derwent

Born 1893 Evandale Tasmania the son of Leonard Derwent and Louisa Elizabeth Smith (nee Schott) a painter he embarked Adelaide 24^th June 1915 on board “HMAT Kanowna” with the 12^th Infantry Battalion.

He was serving with the 52^nd Battalion when he was killed in action 4^th September 1916 in France and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.

SMITH.-Killed in action on the 4th September.1916, Stanley Derwent Smith, eldest son of Leonard and Louisa Smith aged 24 years. He did his duty.
